Big dogs often get a bad rep, after all a mouth that big would surely smell twice as worse as a regular sized one. But we wanted to show how with big dogs there is big love to be found and so we put together this collection of heartwarming pics.

It is true, the larger breeds out there have either gotten themselves a somewhat undeserved bad reputation, or they are simply overlooked for their impractical size. Sure, back in the days when many more of us were farmers it made sense to have an almost cow sized dog to help you when working with the cows. But now that most of us live a city based life, it can feel a little tight to think about squeezing a dog that outsizes most sheep and even some ponies into a studio apartment.

Not that it can't be done, it just does not sound like the most attractive way to spend our rent money. But that exact thinking is what has also led to these gentle giants getting a bad reputation of which they are far from deserving. For these big dogs are nothing more than the soft and squishy super sized hearts they have in their bodies. And they deserve our love and affection just as much as the tiniest toy poodle.

Sometimes it is a matter of relativity and sometimes it is a matter of true grandeur, but either way there is something so magical about a big dog. Perhaps it is the unexpected reversal of roles, where we hoomans feel protected by an animal not of our species for the first time in our lives. Perhaps it is just the comfort that you get from hugging something significantly larger than yourself, like those oversized bears. Whatever it is, it is bliss, you can see it on that tiny hooman’s face.

Some dogs are big and they know it, others are big but are certain that they are actually small. By the looks of it this pupper would fall into that latter category as he seems to think that he has no need to move so as to create space for the tiny hooman who is trying to squeeze in next to him. And why should he? For in his mind he is a tiny pupper himself. Sometimes the stories we tell ourselves end up being the realities that we live out in our day to day. Rather wild isn’t it.
